About the Volkswagen Transporter and its keys

Transporter ignition problems
On turn-key Transporters, a key that sticks, catches or will not turn can be caused by a worn or damaged key blade or wear inside the mechanical ignition barrel. If the key turns normally but nothing happens electrically, the ignition switch may have failed, though a battery or wiring fault can look the same.
