Ford Transit Key Replacement in Eastleigh

A Transit is often the whole business on wheels — tools, stock and the day's jobs all depend on it starting. When the only key goes missing or the fob stops responding, we can help you work out the quickest sensible route back on the road.

About the Ford Transit and its keys

The full-size Transit has been built across several generations and in many forms — panel vans, double cabs, minibuses and chassis cabs with dropside or tipper bodies. Because key types changed between generations, the registration and year are the starting point for any Transit key enquiry.

Lost Ford Transit keys

If every Transit key has gone, the van usually has to be dealt with where it stands. Tell us where it is parked in Eastleigh or nearby, the registration and roughly when the keys were last seen, and we will confirm whether a replacement can be produced for that particular van.

Spare Transit keys

Many Transits are shared between drivers or kept on a fleet, and a single key is a real risk. Adding a spare while one key still works is normally simpler than starting from nothing after a loss.

Chassis cabs, tippers and converted Transits

Body conversions do not change the base van's key system, but they can mean extra locks for tool stores or rear bodies. Let us know what is fitted so we understand exactly what you need covered.

Transit remote keys and programming

Transit remotes take a hard life on site — dropped in footwells, left on dashboards, rattled around with tools. If the locking buttons have become unreliable, tell us which generation you have and what the fob still does; a battery or a new programmed remote may be the answer, depending on the van. See van key programming.

Lockouts and damaged Transit keys

Keys locked in a Transit cab, or a blade snapped in the door lock, are frequent enquiries. On larger Transits there may be several doors and body locks involved, so say which door the key is stuck in or which lock is affected. See keys locked in a van.

Transit ignition problems

On key-turn Transits, a key that will not turn, catches or feels stiff can be caused by a worn or damaged key blade or wear inside the mechanical ignition barrel. A faulty electrical ignition switch is different: the key turns, but the dashboard, accessories or starter do not respond properly. Battery and wiring faults can look similar, so we diagnose before recommending repair or replacement. See Ford van ignition replacement.

Where we attend

Full-size Transits are rarely easy to move without a key, so we attend wherever it is parked — a driveway, a yard or a job in or around Eastleigh — provided the work can be done safely there. See all areas covered.

What we need for a quote

  • Registration and year of your Transit
  • Where the van is located
  • The type of key you have (or had)
  • Whether a working key remains

We confirm compatibility for your specific van before arranging a visit — not every year or variant is suitable.

Does it matter which generation of Transit I have?

Yes. Key types differ between generations, which is why we ask for the registration and year before quoting.

My Transit is a tipper conversion — is that a problem?

The key for the van itself depends on the base Transit. Mention any extra body locks when you enquire so we can say what we can help with.
